Published: Tue 31st Jan

Originally recorded on 3 November 2022

Is D&D suitable for historical settings? And how can it be played in that way?

We will discuss those questions with the following panel, which includes historians who regularly play D&D and game designers who have worked on historical settings:

James Holloway: contributor to A Folklore Bestiary, Knock!, and Cthulhu Dark Ages
Andrea Oneglia: author of Medieval, Tales from Europe, a historical 5th edition setting that is currently on Kickstarter here
Edmund Hayes: postdoctoral researcher in Medieval Middle Eastern History at Radboud University, in the Netherlands, and game master in a D&D campaign set in 8th-century Egypt.
Eline Scheerlinck: PhD student in Greek and Coptic Papyrology at Leiden University, in the Netherlands, and player in Edmund's campaign.
Jenny Cromwell: Senior Lecturer in Ancient History at Manchester Metropolitan University, and player in Edmund's campaign.
